Led by Reb Irwin
A periodic exploration of poetry and short prose by great Yiddish writers. We read and translate from the Yiddish together, but no previous Yiddish knowledge is required. Trust us on this. A chance to enter the culture and feel of Yiddish literature. There will also be great conversation, a little grammar, and many laughs.
Last time we read excerpts from An-Sky’s classic play, The Dybbuk. This time we follow up by watching the 1937 flim of the play. Filmed on location in Poland, the film is significant also as a picture of pre-WWII Jewish life.
