Because of evacuations and power issues related to the Kincade Fire, Yiddish Tish will be postponed to some time in November. Watch this calendar or your weekly eBlast for the new date.
What a mechayeh!
Yiddish Tish returns, exploring Yiddish literature and culture. No previous Yiddish knowledge required. This time we look at and listen to songs from the current Broadway production of Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish. We will look at how the Yiddish translation differs from the original Sheldon Harnick lyrics and what that says about what cultural and religious knowledge is expected of a Yiddish-speaking audience.
