POSTPONED: Letting Go: Conversations on Shmitah

  • Beit Midrash Zoom Classroom Cotati, CA, 94931 United States (map)

This teaching will be rescheduled - please keep checking this calendar, and your weekly eBlast, for details.

Led by Cassandra Ferrera

This is the shmitah year – the year of letting go, in which we leave our fields fallow and release debts. In this series we will look at shmitah-related texts and react to them, seeing what they inspire in us.

Join Cassandra and Reb Irwin for a Shmitah year inspired exploration into how to deepen into an ethical and sacred relationship with land and justice. We will center some of the challenging questions of our times in a compassionate and brave circle. Questions such as: What does it mean to live as a settler in a good way? What is our ethical/spiritual accountability to the land and to the people? How do we move though our fears of the unknown and make room for new voices at the table? How do we examine our traumatic human history and the land’s legacy and deepen into healing and repair with the land and original peoples. How do we more deeply embody our values?

Cassandra Ferrera’s dynamic real estate career and community activism has focused on the edge of cultural innovation where cooperation meets land stewardship. She has provided agency, complex contract design, consulting and cooperative governance support to dozens of communities and land projects.

A licensed real estate agent in California since 2003, Cassandra’s license is with the progressive Green Key Real Estate brokerage in the San Francisco Bay Area. A strong advocate for land trust innovation and the permanent de-commodification of land, Cassandra brings a practical and deeply ethical commitment to the land justice movement.

As a land and organizational steward, Cassandra is committed to a deep restoration of our sacred relationship with Earth. Cassandra has lived in land based community projects since 2006 and is humbled by the ongoing initiation that it is to live into land and cooperative stewardship.
