  • Beit Midrash Zoom Classroom Link provided upon registration (map)

What Seeds are you planting for the New Year?
Preparing for the High Holidays during Elul.

We are entering Elul, the month of transformation. Do you know how to take advantage of this profound time in the Jewish calendar?

We are also marking the end of the Shmitah year which can be a transition point in our cycles of personal development. What seeds of spirit do we choose to plant for the coming year?  How will we cultivate them?

Four of our beloved teachers will use their  deep knowledge to help us navigate this powerful time.  Bring a journal to record your own insights.

Monday, August 15th
Self-Reflection with Basha Hirschfeld

The fallow ground of the Shmitah year is a metaphor for the unknowns that we face. Although it may be scary to “not know,” it is also full of possibilities.   Using the practice of meditation and journaling, we will begin to explore the new opportunities opening up to us now.

Basha Hirschfeld teaches Meditation and will refer to the teachings of Alan Lew and Pema Chodron in her presentation.

Monday, August 22th
Investigation with Reb Judith Goleman

Like the seeds of plants, we all have protective coverings that may prevent us from experiencing the full joy and meaning of our lives. What protective habits do we have that prevent the emergence of our true self into this New Year?

Reb Judith Goleman brings together her deep knowledge of Judaism, the Kabbalah and psychotherapy to move with us on this journey.

Monday, August 29th
Seeds of Spirituality with Gesher Calmenson

Master teacher Gesher will guide us through the richness of this time using his deep knowledge of Kabbalah and Jewish mysticism. He will help us explore how the qualities of the Tree of Life can become manifest in the coming year.

Gesher Calmenson brings his experience as Jewish educator and spiritual practitioner to help us in our quest.

Friday, September 9 (Please note new day of the week)
Transformation with Shoshana Fershtman

The series culminates with an opportunity to connect deeply with our wisdom self and receive guidance for the coming year. Kabbalistic wisdom of the Sacred Feminine guides our exploration of clearing the ground, planting, and nourishing the seeds of our own soul’s becoming.

Shoshana Fershtman, JD, PhD, is a Jungian analyst and psychologist and author of The Mystical Exodus in Jungian Perspective: Transforming Trauma and the Wellsprings of Renewal.
