Rebuilding Our Lives

In response to Reb Irwin Keller’s class on How We Honor: Jewish Practices of Dying, Death and Mourning, we are hosting a one-time meeting with Ner Shalomers and our friends who have lost long-time partners to discuss Rebuilding our Lives with an eye to getting ideas of how folks have been doing this and what strategies have been most useful. And decide what, if anything, might come next.

Lizbeth Hamlin MA, LMFT has been a practicing psychotherapist in Santa Rosa for over 45 years. Her orientation is from a Jungian based, attachment focused model utilizing Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), the creative process, mindfulness disciplines and a somatic approach to healing relational and childhood trauma. Lizbeth had many successive losses in her 30’s wiping out significant support systems and becoming, in retrospect, a foundation of how resilience is born along with deeply understanding that loss is our greatest teacher.

In her private practice she has worked extensively with seasoned professionals, business owners, artists, couples, and women with breast cancer. She views each individual uniquely and provides a strong container for healing to occur. She is a certified EMDR therapist and an approved consultant providing supervision for those training in EMDR. She is currently a faculty member for the Parnell Institute.

Lizbeth also spent years studying Mussar and applies these principles to her work and everyday musing of how to work with the internal process of Jewish learning.

While not working, she enjoys the wine country where she lives, is an avid tango dancer, a board member at Sonoma Mountain Zen Center, a long-time participant and facilitator of Authentic Movement. She is a member at Congregation Shomrei Torah.
