Shivah, taharah, yahrzeit, yizkor…
We are blessed to be the inheritors of a rich Jewish legacy of practice around the processes of dying, death, and mourning. The presence of structure and fullness of content help hold us in times when we would otherwise be bewildered and bereft.
In this class we will look at some of our key texts and historic practices around companioning the dying, death and burial rituals, and the strong holding of mourners. We will also discuss ways that these practices can (and need to) be tailored to fit the circumstances of our lives.
