Sunday Afternoon Fun

  • Ner Shalom 85 La Plaza Cotati, CA, 94931 United States (map)

Come join us for a kick-back afternoon of chatting and creating beautiful Hamsas. The Hamsa is an ancient Middle Eastern symbol that brings good fortune and protects you from harm. All you need are pencils, crayons, or markers. Patterns will be sent to all who join in the fun and an Iris Paper Folding pattern will also be available. This is not a class, though participants will have the opportunity to share techniques and encourage each other as part of the fun.

Iris Folding is a technique that originated in 20th century Holland. Colored or patterned papers are folded and cut into strips, then taped into place over a pattern, creating a spiraling design that resembles the iris of an eye or camera. The colorful Hamsa in the middle of the image below was created using the Iris Folding technique.
