The theme of this year's commemoration will be Speaking Up and Standing Up. Three local Holocaust survivors or descendants – Eric Angress, Miriam Susan Dregéy, and Sandy Feldhorn – will be sharing how they were helped by "upstanders" who did the right thing.
There will be musical performances by the Congregation Shomrei Torah Choir and Cantorial Soloist Erica Wisner, the Congregation Ner Shalom Good Shabbos Band and Sheridan Gold, Cantorial Soloist Fredi Bloom, and Sandy Feldhorn and Friends, as well as candle lighting by Jewish and other Holocaust survivors and those targeted by genocide.
The event is being co-sponsored by Jewish Community Center of Sonoma County, Sonoma County synagogues, The Alliance for the Study of the Holocaust and Genocide, the JCC Alliance of North America, Jewish Family and Children's Services, and other organizations whose names will be included in the program.
As in past years, we will be producing a Memorial Book listing the names of victims of the Shoah remembered by members of our community. All the names will be displayed on screen during the commemoration. The Memorial Book will also be available as a PDF document on the Jewish Community Center website (see link below). Names submitted by April 18th will be included in 2022 Memorial book.
The program is free, but registration by no later than April 29th is required to receive the Zoom link. To register for the commemoration and receive the Zoom link, submit names for the 2022 Memorial Book, make a donation, or access the recording of the 2021 commemoration or view the 2021 Memorial Book, please go to the Sonoma County JCC website.
